Survios is holding an Oculus Rift and HTC Vive Closed Beta for Battlewake, a VR pirate game, on Steam this weekend.
Battlewake, a multiplayer-focused pirate VR game from Creed: Rise to Glory developer Survios, is one of the most interesting VR games on the horizon. Oculus Rift and HTC Vive players who are curious about the game will be able to try it for themselves soon as well, as the developers are holding a Battlewake Closed Beta via Steam this weekend.
Sign-ups for the Closed Beta will be open on the game’s official website until July 18, and players will be able to try out Battlewake by 12pm PT on July 19 and 11:59pm PT on July 21. As betas like this are critical in testing servers, Survios is encourage players to specifically hop on and play Battlewake between 4pm and 7pm on both July 20 and July 21. As the beta is being held through Steam, Survios confirmed that it will not be available on PS VR or Oculus Quest.
During the beta itself, players will be able to try out Battlewake’s Warfare mode. The developers describe this mode as “a cooperative, progressive gauntlet” where players will fight a ton of enemies as their preferred Pirate Lord. The ships and abilities can also be upgraded as gold is racked up over the course of the Battlewake closed beta. Battlewake is still poised to release in both VR arcades and for some retail VR platforms later this Summer. While platforms have not been specified yet, this weekend’s beta seems to suggest it will at least hit the standard Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
