Control gets a much-requested photo mode tomorrow and Remedy details a new gameplay mode called Expeditions in new Playstation Blog update.
Control is one of the most visually stunning games out this year. The game really shines on a beefy RTX card, but, regardless of platform, Remedy’s latest is a visual delight. The way the game uses lighting, in particular, is incredibly impressive. Which is why it’s so great to see Control getting a new photo mode on October 16.

As revealed on the Playstation blog, the often requested photo mode comes tomorrow. Given how pretty this game and its architecture are, I cannot wait to see what kind of shots players can get. The photo mode will have all the usual bells and whistles, including options to hide different characters from the shot. It should be all the tools you need to create breathtaking Control visuals and share them with the world.
In addition to the new photo mode, Remedy announced that they’ll be releasing a free gameplay mode by the end of the year. This new Expedition Update will give players new timed objectives to complete that will reward them with powerful equipment for Jesse. Each Expedition will come with different modifiers that switch up the normal gameplay, making them “extra tricky” to compete.
Expeditions are happening in addition to the Control DLC that is coming next year. From the writeup, this appears to just be gameplay focused with little to no story. For me, that’s less exciting, as the story is the reason I was so into Control. Fortunately, the upcoming DLC expansions should scratch that itch in due time.
Control is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Photo mode is out tomorrow and Expeditions are coming by the end of the year.
