Deadly Premonition Origins for Nintendo Switch is available digitally, but it will be getting a physical release too in a couple of months.
One of the most surprising announcements in yesterday’s Nintendo Direct was Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise. As that sequel was unveiled, Access Games and Rising Star Games also released the first game on the Nintendo Switch eShop last night as Deadly Premonition Origins. For now, Deadly Premonition Origins is only available digitally, though that is changing soon.
Aksys Games, a North America publisher known for their involvement with the Guilty Gear series and Little Dragons Cafe, will be handling the North American physical release of Deadly Premonition Origins. As they often handle the North American releases of Rising Star Games’ titles, this is not super surprising. The Deadly Premonition Origins Collector’s Edition will be available physically come November; unfortunately, no parties involved have given a specific release date yet. Aksys Games will also be detailing the contents of the package at a later time.
Even though the physical release is not coming for a couple months, it is great to see this cult classic series get revived on Nintendo Switch. Deadly Premonition Origins definitely has faults, but it’s also an interesting title that not enough people experienced back in the day. Hopefully, this digital and physical release of the first game on Nintendo Switch will bring in some new fans and revive interest in the series before Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise, which is written and directed by Swery, comes out in 2020.
Deadly Premonition Origins for Nintendo Switch is available now digitally and will be getting a physical release in November 2019. The original is also available on PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Xbox One via backwards compatibility if you’d rather play the original versions of the game.
