With Shadowkeep to debut next week, you can now preload Destiny 2 on Steam for PC players coming to the game new or from Battle.net.
After its initial launch two years ago and its high-profile breakup with Activision earlier this year, Bungie is officially freeing the reigns on Destiny 2 by bringing the title to Steam. If you’re looking to jump into the action right at launch next week, you can start preloading it right now and avoid the wait for launch next
Bungie has announced that preloading for Destiny 2 on Steam is now available for players that have either purchased the full game on the platform, or for players looking to download the free-to-play version of the game, New Light, so that they can jump right into the action when it launches.
As announced previously by Bungie, next week marks the debut of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, which is the next major expansion for the title, alongside the debut of Destiny 2: New Light, which will provide players with a free-to-play experience of the title that offers its base content (up through Year One) for free.
Additionally, players that previously purchased the game through Blizzard’s Battle.net Launcher can migrate their game account and content over for when it arrives on October 1 now. For the full details on how to link your Battle.net and Steam accounts to do that, you can check out Bungie’s official guide here.
Destiny 2 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with the title to come to Google Stadia later this year.
In the meantime, Destiny 2 is available for pre-load on Steam.
Stay tuned for this week’s TWAB for final launch instructions.
