Techland has confirmed that Dying Light 2 is planned to come to PS5 and Xbox Scarlett at some point.
There are a lot of highly-anticipated games releasing in the early portion of 2020 and because they’ll all be out so close to the release of the next-generation consoles–PS5 and Xbox Scarlett–it stands to reason that many of them might make the jump to the new platforms for later on. With one 2020 release though, a next-generation version has now already been confirmed.
In a conversation with Wccftech, Techland, the company behind the upcoming release of Dying Light 2, it was confirmed that next-gen counterparts for the upcoming sequel are in the works. Techland’s chief technology officer Paweł Rohlede was the one to verify that this has always been in the cards.
“Techland always has an eye on the latest new toys!” Rohlede said. “To be more specific — yes, the plan since the beginning of production has been to make Dying Light 2 a cross-generation title.”
Considering Techland has still done so much to keep the original Dying Light by constantly adding new DLC over the years, it should come as no surprise that they’d like to extend the sequel’s life as well by bringing it to new platforms. As of now, it’s hard to know just when these next-gen versions of DL2 might arrive (right at the launch of new hardware or later on) but Techland will surely have more to say in the coming year as we start to learn more about both PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.
Until that time, Dying Light 2 is set to launch in the first half of 2020 and will arrive on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
