The Pokemon masters might change their minds if you yell loud enough, though.
2018’s Pokemon: Let’s Go games did well for developer Game Freak. The two games topped sales charts all over the world when it launched. They also helped move Nintendo Switches off shelves at a solid clip. This makes it somewhat surprising news that, in a recent interview with Eurogamer, the developer announced that they don’t have any current plans to add to that line.
Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda told Eurogamer that they have “no particular plans” to make more Let’s Go games. That doesn’t mean all hope is lost for gamers hoping to get a Let’s Go version of Pokemon Crystal. While Game Freak isn’t currently working on new updates, Masuda did say that “if the fans really like it then definitely keep those voices coming”. Essentially saying that they’re continuing to monitor fan feedback and might make new Let’s Go titles if the demand is there.
This isn’t overly surprising news out of Game Freak. They just released Little Town Hero a week ago, and Pokemon Sword and Shield are not far off. That’s quite a bit on the developer’s plate. Maybe there’s time after Sword and Shield to remake an old game in the Let’s Go style, but it not being a priority isn’t too unanticipated.
Eurogamer’s full interview is a pretty interesting read. They dive into some of the new features coming in Sword and Shield and speak on the feedback about the Pokedex. Fortunately, we only have to wait a few short weeks until the new games are out.
Pokemon Sword and Shield release on November 15 for Nintendo Switch.
