Golf Peaks, Lukasz Spierewka’s ingenious blend of puzzler and golf game, is set to receive a huge new update that includes 12 extremely challenging levels. Version 3.0 will arrive on August 13th and will be entirely free.
The announcement, first reported by Touch Arcade, comes as very welcome news indeed. We’re all big fans of Golf Peaks here at PG, with it being awarded first place at The Big Indie Pitch in Poznan last year.
If you’re yet to try it out, Golf Peaks is perhaps best described as part turn-based puzzler, part intense golfing game. You’re given a handful of cards that dictate the types of action you can take, so it’s all about putting that ball in the allotted number of turns. There are standard shots and chip shots to gradually master over time, and it all just feels great to play.
Its clean aesthetic looks great, all while allowing you a clear view of every obstacle and opportunity on the field. It’s just a really economical, well-made puzzler that you don’t have to be a fan of golf to enjoy.
We reviewed it late last year, saying ‘Golf Peaks is smart, beautiful, and sticks firmly to the thin line between too hard and too easy throughout’, before awarding it a 4.5/5. And this latest update, which is totally free, seems to make it even more of a must-buy.
Golf Peaks is available now for download over on the App Store, Google Play, and Nintendo eShop. It’s priced at $2.99 on mobile, so you don’t need to worry about ads or excessive IAPs ruining your golfing fun. Also keep an eye out for the team’s upcoming food-themed puzzler inbento, which looks similarly great.
