Following a stint in beta, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is available now for iOS. It’s mind-boggling to think that Gwent started as a merely a part of The Witcher 3 and it’s now it’s become a massive entity in its own right that, as of today you can play on your phone.
It’s a fairly simple game in concept, which is probably why it’s done so well. You can play any card that’s in your hand without any mana restrictions, though you can only play one per turn. This means you could start the game with your most powerful unit or save them for later on.
It’s played over three rounds meaning a lot of strategies is involved in deciding where and when to play certain cards. There’s two different rows for melee and ranged cards and you simply have to have more points than your opponent to clinch a round, win two rounds and you’ve won the match. It’s certainly not hard to understand at a base level but you’ll be surprised by how many different tactics are actually involved with Gwent.
If you’re an existing player of Gwent and the PC has been your platform of choice, then you’ll be able to carry your progress over to the iOS version of the game. Sadly, the same doesn’t apply for those who’ve sunk time into the Xbox One or PS4 version of the game.
If you’ve never dabbled with Gwent since you played Witcher 3 or simply have touched it at all but want to see what all the fuss is about, then check out our guide so that you can hit the ground running.
Gwent is available now on the App Store it’s a free-to-play game with in-app purchases. There are currently still no details on the Android version of the game but we’ll be sure to update you as soon as there is.
