The Touch Creation Mode for ambitious game creation platform HiberWorld is now available in beta for iOS and Android devices. It allows anyone with a touchscreen device to make their own little games and play the creations of others.
Prior to now, HiberWorld games could only be created on desktop. The expansion onto mobile hardly comes as a surprise given that 90% of HiberWorld’s userbase access the site and its many, many games via mobile. The aim is to bring these creative tools to as many people as possible, with Michael Yngfors, CEO of Hiber AB, saying “we’re giving people another way to communicate and express themselves through games.”
Creating games on HiberWorld is said to be fairly straightforward – you don’t need to know how to code in order to create. The team at Hiber AB intends to keep expanding this toolset as time goes on. Regardless of your skillset, it shouldn’t take long to get to grips with the basics. And remember that the Touch Creation Mode is still in beta, meaning there may be a number of slight technical issues.
Sure, the core gameplay can be a tad clunky in some cases, but it’s undeniably neat to have such easy access to game creation tools – and user-created games – on the go. If you’re interested in giving it a shot, you can access a ton of games and the creation tools themselves through basically any browser over at the official HiberWorld site.
