Blade, Moon Knight, the Punisher, and Morbius will join the roster of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 with its first expansion, Marvel Knights.
The cast of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is already obscenely large, and it will only get larger through some previously-announced downloadable content. If you’ve purchased the expansion pass for the Nintendo Switch exclusive, you’ll be getting the first of three chapters in the pack: Marvel Knights, which includes Blade, Moon Knight, the Punisher, and Morbius. The chapter will also have some additional challenges and modes that should extend your playtime with the game.
According to the Nintendo UK listing for Ultimate Alliance 3, this first DLC pack will also include the cleverly-named Gauntlet Mode; in it, up to four players can team up in the mode to take on “an intense series of co-op challenges in rapid succession” for a variety of rewards. The pack will also have a survival-based Endurance Mode with online leaderboards and a new Infinity Rift with a number of challenges to come with it.
Outside of the game, Marvel fans hardcore and casual should recognize these four characters—Blade will get a reboot from Marvel Studios starring two-time winner Mahershala Ali, and the Punisher was featured in a Marvel Television-Netflix series starring a gruff and constantly yelling Jon Bernthal. Meanwhile, Morbius is due for a Sony Pictures movie starring Jared Leto, for some reason, and the ever-popular Moon Knight still hasn’t gotten any adaptation before any of the aforementioned characters.
Before the September 30 release of this pack, X-Men characters Colossus and Cyclops will be made available to players for free. After Marvel Knights, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 will have a larger DLC pack based on X-Men, as well as one based on Fantastic Four. All spells good fortune for Marvel Comics fans, as well as Nintendo, given the game’s success in sales.
On a personal note, I just made it to the final story chapter of the game, so I’m looking forward to having more characters to play around with. I have found that the game spikes in difficulty and my characters are generally severely under-leveled, so I’ve been looking at these trials and challenge modes as opportunities to grind on my free time.
