Witness a Flawless Victory on the big screen when the R-rated Mortal Kombat movie hits theaters in March 2021, fatalities included.
With the new Mortal Kombat film in pre-production, we’re getting more details on the upcoming video game adaptation.
Greg Russo, the screenwriter on the film, took to Twitter and shared some details on the film’s rating and fatalities. Russo says that the film will be R-rated and feature fatalities, but he didn’t confirm which ones will appear on screen. Let the speculation begin…
Since it’s already been stated by other members of the team, I’m gonna put this one to bed. MK WILL be R-Rated and for the first time EVER, FATALITIES will FINALLY be on the big screen (and no I’m not gonna say which ones) You’ll just have to wait for the movie & see!!! 😉 pic.twitter.com/aVTewH4t28

This will be the first live-action Mortal Kombat film since 1997’s Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. This new film will be a reboot that doesn’t tie into the previous Mortal Kombat films.
Currently, there are no details about the plot, but it’s been confirmed that actor and martial artist Joe Taslim (Fast and Furious 6, The Raid: Redemption) will play Sub-Zero. It’s safe to say that his “friend” Scorpion will make an appearance in the film too. Produced by Aquaman director James Wan and directed by Simon McQuoid, the Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema film is set to come out on March 5, 2021. Filming is set to take place in Australia later this year.
While you wait for the new Mortal Kombat film, Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
