Rob McElhenney detailed that production on the upcoming season season of the Apple TV+ series Mythic Quest is stopped due to the coronavirus.
Coming from the minds behind the long-running It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the recently-released Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet has drawn acclaim for its blend of workplace comedy mixed with insight into the industry of video game development. Produced in part by Ubisoft, Mythic Quest is one of the few TV shows to turn its eye specifically towards video games, with the series’ upcoming second season seeing a production delay.
Creator and executive producer Rob McElhenney announced on Twitter that production for the second season of Mythic Quest has been temporarily shut down due to growing worldwide concerns over the coronavirus outbreak. While McElhenney didn’t have a firm timeline of when production for the series will pick back up, he did state that the series’ production team is “working on a plan to make sure no one misses a paycheck.”
The series’ production being suspended joins a growing list of cancellations and suspensions around the world tied to major events and gatherings to prevent further spreading the COVID-19 coronavirus strain. Specifically, in the world of entertainment such as television and film, we’ve already seen several high-profile productions being suspended or delayed in release, such as No Time to Die, Mulan, A Quiet Place Part II, and Fast & Furious 9. The games industry has also felt the full impact of the coronavirus, from major events like E3 being cancelled to tournaments and other competitive events also being postponed or suspended.
Mythic Quest is currently streaming its full first season on Apple TV+, with the series’ second season in development.
