Capcom is looking to gain feedback from the most hardcore Resident Evil fans with a new title that is currently in development.
It should come as no surprise that Capcom is actively working on a new game in the Resident Evil franchise, but it now seems that this upcoming game has reached a point where the publisher is looking to garner feedback from longtime fans.
In a new email sent out to Resident Evil Ambassadors, a group of hardcore fans of the series, Capcom has stated that it is now looking to recruit some of these members to test out a new game in the series that is currently being worked on. This opportunity, and the RE Ambassador program as a whole, is only available for those in Japan. These playtests are said to occur on September 8 and 9th.
Here’s a portion of the text of the email Capcom has sent out:
To all Resident Evil Ambassadors,
Thank you for your patronage regarding the Resident Evil series.
Today, we are letting you know that we are recruiting testers for a game that’s in development!!
We are interested in incorporating the feedback of all Ambassadors into our development, so please read the details below and, if you are interested in participating, click the Entry button.
Again, while it isn’t surprising that Capcom is working on a new Resident Evil game, what is intriguing is wondering just what this game could be. Since the release of the Resident Evil 2 remake earlier this year, many fans have been asking Capcom to next create a remake of Resident Evil 3. That said, it could still be too early for such a game to be in development just yet, even though some rumors have indicated otherwise.
Another option could be that this title is Resident Evil 8. This would make more sense considering Resident Evil VII came out all the way back in 2017. There’s also the off chance that this game could be related to one of the spin-off titles like the Revelations sub-series. With how many different Resident Evil games there have been over the years, it’s really hard to know what this could be for certain what this new installment could be. That said, RE3 Remake and RE8 are likely the best estimations to put your money on.
Regardless of what this mystery Resident Evil project turns out to be, hopefully, the fact that Capcom is now looking for fans to playtest the game means that it’s far enough along in development that we’ll be hearing more about it in an official capacity soon enough.
