Having existed as an extremely well-known MMORPG for the better part of 18 years now, RuneScape Mobile is finally available for Android through Early Access following a stint in closed beta. Apple users are going to have to stick with Old School RuneScape for a little while longer though.
RuneScape Mobile promises to deliver the full Gielinor experience to mobile users with the only difference being the UI has been adjusted for smartphone screens. The combat mechanics specifically have been tailored for mobile players and there’s also been an adjustment to the way new players are introduced to the game.
You’ll still have access to the same content as desktop players whether that’s choosing to run your own farm or tackle bosses. The extensive skill system is also present with 27 different traits to master including fishing, cooking and divination. It even has cross-play so you can continue your journey from where you left it on either PC or Android.
You will need to have a RuneScape membership to play the game in Early Access, however. You’ll be able to create one through Google Play though. You’ll also need to be running Android 6.0 or later, which I imagine most people are at this point anyway.
Those who play the game in Early Access will get the Mobile Founder’s Pack for free. This will give you a Steel Panther Combat pet, a unique rest animation and the Radiant Dawn Armour.
If you’re a little hesitant to jump into the game blind, then check out our hands-on preview from RuneFest earlier this year to see how we thought the game compared to its PC counterpart.
RuneScape Mobile is available in Early Access now through Google Play with an iOS version coming in future.
