A new store page on Steam seems to confirm that Sea of Thieves will be heading to the PC platform in the near future.
With its initial release in early 2018, Microsoft and Rare’s long-in-development Sea of Thieves really showed players what the pirate’s life is like. Releasing first on Xbox One and PC through Windows 10, the multiplayer-centric pirate game appears to be setting out for uncharted waters on Steam very soon.
A Steam store page has appeared for Sea of Thieves today and seemingly confirms that the game will be coming to the platform sometime in the near future. According to the store page, there is no specified release date for the Steam version just yet, but that it will be “coming soon.”

Previously, Sea of Thieves was only available on Xbox One and the Microsoft Store for Windows 10 PC players, and is also part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program between both platforms. However, in the past few years Microsoft has loosened these restrictions and begun to bring many of its Xbox exclusive titles to other platforms such as Steam. Recently that has included games such as State of Decay 2, Gears 5, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC.
In terms of Sea of Thieves related news, the game has steadily introduced new content and expansions in the two years since its release, including the recent introduction of Angry Chests in the Crews of Rage content update. So far, the game has amassed a playerbase of over 10 million players across Xbox One and PC over the last two years, showing that the game doesn’t appear to be losing steam (no pun intended) anytime soon. Likewise, the game is also inspiring some additional new projects such as a tabletop game adaptation and more.
