Nintendo has doubled the number of levels you can now upload in Super Mario Maker 2.
Even though Super Mario Maker 2 has almost universally been met with praise since releasing nearly a month ago, one aspect of the game that has bothered many players has been that of the course upload limit. For those looking to create and upload levels for others to play, Super Mario Maker 2 would only allow each user to upload a maximum of 32 courses before no longer being able to do so. Fortunately, this policy has now been changed.
As of recently, Nintendo has now increased the limit to which players can upload new courses to Super Mario Maker 2. Via an in-game message that appears when launching the title, it has now been confirmed that the new course upload limit is 64 levels, which is double what it was previously. Furthermore, Nintendo says it plans to increase this limit one more additional time in the future.
While Nintendo’s reason for making the cap so low initially was to ensure a level of quality in the levels that many did upload, 32 proved to be a fairly small amount for those in the Mario Maker community that spend a lot of time designing new stages. As of this writing alone, Super Mario Maker 2 has already had over 2 million levels uploaded by creators around the world. With the cap now increasing again, that number will certainly continue to go up even further.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted when Nintendo once again raises this level upload limit down the road. Until then, you can currently pick up Super Mario Maker 2 on Nintendo Switch right now.
