Tetris Effect developer Enhance Games has revealed that SteamVR is compatible with the PC version of the game.
After a bit of confusion, Tetris Effect developer Enhance has confirmed that players don’t need SteamVR in order to play the game in VR. The developer also mentions that in addition to being playable on Oculus Quest, SteamVR is also compatible with the Oculus SDK.
The confusion started when the Epic Games Store listing mentioned that SteamVR was required to play Tetris Effect‘s optional VR mode. “Tetris Effect VR does require SteamVR, both on HTC Vive and Oculus,” the company said in a previous statement. While the game isn’t available on Steam, SteamVR is a separate piece of software needed to play VR games on Oculus headsets, HTC Vive, or another mixed-reality headset and controllers.
Unlike previous versions of Tetris, Tetris Effect offers a unique twist that includes dynamic music, ever-changing stages, and trippy visuals along the way. Additionally, the game offers several modes for those that want a challenge or to just relax and clear some stages. It was one of my favorite games of 2018 and it’s awesome that more people get to try it out thanks to the PC release. It may be Tetris, but this new iteration offers a unique experience that everyone should try out.
Tetris Effect launched exclusively on the Epic Games Store on July 23. In addition to being playable in 2D and VR, the game includes new features such as adjustable particle size, texture filtering, and ultra-wide monitor support. Tetris Effect originally launched on PlayStation 4 last November with optional PlayStation VR support.
Tetris Effect is available exclusively on the Epic Games Store now. Additionally, the game is currently $31.99 and a limited time offer is available which includes 10 Tetris Effect themed 4K wallpapers and a soundtrack sampler with seven tracks.
For those that don’t own a compatible PC, it’s also available on PlayStation 4 for $39.99.
