PS4 Pro versions of the game might not have graphical enhancements.
The Outer Worlds draws closer to release later this month, and while Obsidian Entertainment’s gameplay footage we’ve seen so far looks great, it seems that Xbox One X owners may be the only ones getting 4K support.
Windows Central reached out to publisher Private Division to ask about how the game runs on the more graphically enhanced consoles Xbox One X and the PS4 Pro. A spokesperson for the company responded saying that The Outer Worlds is “4K on Xbox One, no enhancements for PS4 Pro.”.
The statement is rather vague, and so Windows Central has reached out again to ask for clarification on this, but for now, it’s sounding like the Xbox One X version of The Outer Worlds will support 4K. Meanwhile, PS4 Pro users don’t appear to be getting any graphical enhancements to the game. I would imagine that the PC version of the game will support 4K, while PS4 Pro and Switch owners will no doubt just get the 1080p experience.
We’ve seen games such as Gearbox Software’s Borderlands 3 confirmed to run at 4K on a PS4 Pro as well as numerous other titles. However, as Windows Central report, We Happy Few was another game that ran at 4K on the Xbox One X console, but only at 1080p on the PS4 Pro.
I’ll keep eyes peeled for an update should Private Division clarify the statement and update this article accordingly.
The Outer Worlds is due to launch on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on October 25. It will also be launching at a later date on Nintendo Switch.
