Zombieland: Double Tap – Road Trip is the latest licensed game from the publisher of the infamous Nickelodeon Kart Racers.
GameMill Entertainment has made a name for themselves over the past couple of years by publishing licensed games. That being said, their notoriety does not come from these games being good. They are pretty terrible actually. Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers was a repetitive beat ’em up with frustrating design, and Nickelodeon Kart Racers was probably the worst game of 2018. Today, GameMill Entertainment revealed the next property they would be adapting, and it’s an…interesting one: Zombieland.
Zombieland: Double Tap, a sequel to the cult classic zombie movie starring the likes of Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin, is coming to theaters on October 18, so GameMill Entertainment is releasing a tie in game called Zombieland: Double Tap – Road Trip just a few days prior on October 15. The game features the likeness of the four aforementioned actors and will take place between the events of the two movies, in case you were worrying about where this game falls in the Zombieland canon.
Zombieland: Double Tap – Road Trip is a top-down twin stick zombie game with a campaign, horde survival mode, and weekly challenges. It’s not incredibly unique. Surprisingly, it is developed by High Voltage Software, a developer best known for its work on Hunter: The Reckoning and the Conduit series; however, in recent years the studio has been mainly working on ports.
While the developer does have some decent games under their belt, the quality of GameMill Entertainment’s previous titles as well as the lackluster first screenshots, which you can see below, definitely are not keeping me optimistic. Zombieland: Double Tap – Road Trip will release for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 15, 2019.
